Queensland’s Production Cow of the Year Announced

The Bourke Family from Gladfield via Warwick has again taken out the top award of Queensland Illawarra Production Cow of the Year for the lactation year ending June 30, 2010.

Myrtleholme Glenda 16 produced 932 KGS of Fat Plus Protein at 3.45% protein and 4.82% fat winning the Mature age category for fat plus protein   Despite producing 11270 litres of milk she could only manage sixth in the Mature Milk top ten with Myrtleholme Lemon Empress 17 winning that section with 11710 litres.

The Wieck Family of Brymaroo had four animals in the All Ages Fat Plus Protein Top Ten with their S4 cow Chelmonte Theresa 63 taking second place to Glenda with 856 kgs F+P.  Theresa however took first place in the All Ages Milk Top Ten producing 12512 litres.

In acknowledgement of their efforts, the Bourke Family holds on to the Michael Ledger Memorial Shield for another twelve months and receives prizemoney of $250 sponsored by the Ledger Family.
