Malanda Show

The annual battle of the north took place at the recent 95th Malanda Show involving five exhibitors.

While the theme of the show was ‘Yesteryear’, modern Illawarra cows were presented to Judge, Keith Dorries, Panorama, Oakey, cows which will take the breed well into the 21st century. 

The show marked several milestones with two exhibitors associated with the Prospect Stud, exhibiting in their own right.  Rodney and Noelene Davis exhibited their Elinjaa Stud and enthusiastic junior member Cherie Davis exhibited her Green Valley Stud.  At the other end of the spectrum, the English Family marked 95 years of exhibiting Illawarra cattle at Malanda.

Interested spectators included the Queensland Branch President, Mr Bob Lester and Publicity Officer Alison Teese and her husband Baden.  Judge, Keith Dorries, is Vice President of the Queensland Branch. 

President of the Atherton Tableland Illawarra Club, Robert Davis, thanked the many helpers including ring announcer Howard Smith, record keeper Bronwyn English, Steward Tom Hamilton and Dairy Maid Sinead Bryant.

Champion Cow and Supreme Illawarra exhibit went to C & R Davis with Odaleigh Gem 23 with the English Family taking Reserve Champion with Eachamvale CV Princess 7.
