2020 Victorian Red Cow On Farm Challenge

Entries are now open for the 2020 Virtual Victorian Red Cow On Farm Challenge

Conducted by the Illawarra Cattle Society of Australia – Victorian branch

SEMEN VOUCHERS TO THE VALUE OF $100 FOR THE WINNER OF EACH CLASS

Fifty dollars to first and second place animals in each class donated by Victorian Branch ICSA.

Judge: Roger Perrett, Hill Valley Holsteins

Class 1:  Commercial Cow by Illawarra or Aussie Red Sire, any age in milk (not eligible for overall champion)

  • Open to cows any age and any colour that are Sired by an Illawarra or Aussie Red Sire
  • (This class is for animals that don’t meet ICSA colour rules as described below.)
  • (All animals that meet acceptable colour criteria should be entered in classes 2-6)

Class 2: 2-Year-old in milk born on or after 1/1/2018

Class 3: 3-Year-old in milk born 1/1/2017 - 31/12/2017

Class 4: 4-Year-old in milk born 1/1/2016 - 31/12/2016

Class 5: 5-Year-old in milk born 1/1/2015 - 31/12/2015

Class 6: 6-Year-old and under 9-year-old in milk born 01/1/2012 - 31/12/2014

Class 7: 9-Year-old in milk and over born prior to 1/1/2012

Class 8: Heifer Class – born 1/1/2019 – 31/12/2019

Classes 2-8: Open to Illawarra & Aussie Red cows, either registered or grade, that conform to Illawarra Cattle Society colour rules for showing. (i.e. they must be red, white, roan, or red & white – including the various shades of red. Minimal black hair around the edges of ears and muzzle are accepted. Excluded will be black faced and black or brindle colours).

Maximum of twelve entries per breeder.

There is no limit on the number of entries in a single class. The limit of 12 entries per breeder will be strictly adhered to.

Animals entered are not to be presented fitted or haltered while being judged.  

Photographs should ideally be taken on the concrete cow yard with each photo labelled with the cow name and ID number from the entry form.

Each cow entered should have 2 photos taken, showing a side shot of the animal and a rear or three-quarter angle of the udder.   

Examples of the side and rear photographs have been provided below and on the entry form.

   

 

Photos must be taken in colour.  Photograph editing is strictly prohibited.
