Kelvin Cochrane and Jeremy Josefski, 8 Goomong Rd, Kandanga, Ph 07 54 834850

Southern Cross Genetics is a partnership devoted to sourcing, breeding and promoting Australia’s best red genetics. SCG was founded by a partnership of Queensland breeders Jeremy Josefski and Kelvin Cochrane.

The first Star at Southern Cross is "Happy Valley April 15". April was purchased as a freshly calved 2 year old from the Radel Discretionary Trust (Graham, Sue, Robbie and Bec Radel) who were the breeders of the Senior Champion Cow at Brisbane Royal Show 2007 and numerous other Broad Ribbons at Queensland's most esteemed shows for decades.

April's full sister is without doubt one of the most outstanding Illawarra cows in Australia showing amazing dairyness and strength. The incredible width of chest of this cow is only exceeding in awe by her udder texture, sharpness, dairyness and angularity and having one of the breeds most exciting rear udders makes this cow one of the breed greats. April herself shows her sisters amazing bone quality and is undeniably the most exciting 2 year old to have left Happy Valley. She towers over most 2 year olds of the same class and has outstanding length adding to her capacity. April also shares her sister’s udder texture and with a welded on udder making her one of the most promising Illawarra cows of her generation. Her rich ruby red coat makes her a crowd favourite in the 900 cow Holstein dairy she is housed at.

At the moment April is gearing up for the 10th Anniversary Illawarra Show at International Dairy week in 2008. April is sired by Silverleigh Monarch from a Virgins Prince Dam.
