Gold for Belle at Maleny

Perfect weather greeted Judge, Tom Cochrane and his wife Kyleigh, Kangawarra Stud, Pyree, NSW at the picturesque Maleny showgrounds for the June 3, 2011 Show and Illawarra breed judging.

This year saw the return of Jock Johnston (Jondene Stud) who missed last year’s show due to hospitalisation.  Forty five head were exhibited by four exhibitors with one of the largest classes being the Best Udder with twelve exhibits.

The Ledger Family (Riverwood Stud) won the local battle with Uncle Jock (F S Johnston & Sons, Jondene) taking out Champion and Reserve Champion Cow and Champion Heifer.  Champion Cow and the winner of the Best Udder was Rosedale Bygold Belle 2306 with the Reserve Championship going to the winner of Class 6 – Cow 7 yrs and over, White Park Melba 377.  Riverwood Betsy 33 was named Champion Heifer and the winner of the Michael Ledger Memorial Trophy donated by Peter and Cheryl Ardrey, with F S Johnston & Sons’ Jondene Beauty 34 Reserve Champion.
