50th Illawarra and Southern Branch Breed Sale Results

This sale was held on 1st May 2012 at the “Athelglow” property of Athelglow Dairies at Berry.  There was a good attendance of buyers and spectators with the higher quality lots attracting much interest.

Top price of the sale was for Eagle Park Viscount Linda, a forward springing daughter of the much admired Raybright Linda 470 Ex, twice Champion at the Illawarra Spring Fair, and producing to 716 kg fat + protein in 305 days.  She was purchased by Greg Osborne from Dondingalong in the Kempsey area for $3,700.

Greg Osborne also purchased equal second price heifer, the springing, showy heifer, Kangawarra Gladys 3505 at $3600.  Also selling at this figure was Athelglow Clarie 778, a daughter of the much admired cow at the Athelglow milking herd dispersal, Athelglow Clarie 729.  She found a new home with Ringland Partnership down Bega way.

Ringland Partnership sold what appeared the bargain of the sale in Viewmount Patch 55.  This Kangawarra Sunrise daughter looked great value at $2000, selling to Tom and Kyleigh Cochrane.

Largest buyer at the sale was the Maloney family, purchasing 6 head including Kangawarra Fussy 3577 for $3000.  They also purchased the nice uddered Creighton Park Fay 1989, sold by the Gavenlock and Achen partnership for $2800.  The Hopkins family from Narooma purchased 5 head, mainly springing heifers.

Joel Dorries purchased the recently mated Eagle Park Big Apple Sunbeam ET for $2300. Her dam Kangawarra Sunbeam 2393 Ex, a Silverleigh Monarch daughter has a top production of 828 kgs fat plus protein in 305 days.

The sale average for 40 heifers was $1820.  Selling agents were Hedley Johnson Pty Ltd, Kiama.
