North Queensland's "Ekka" Concludes

Malanda Show is the "Ekka" of the north for breeders in the Atherton Tableland area and this year under Judge, Steven Ledger, Riverwood Stud, Carters Ridge, the broad ribbons were distributed across four breeders.

Greg and Bronwyn English of Eachamvale stud were the standouts claiming four championships – Champion and Reserve Champion Junior Heifer with Eachamvale Sarah 9 and Eachamvale Suzie 7 respectively and Champion and Reserve Champion Cow with Eachamvale CV Princess 7 and Eachamvale Kaye 5 respectively.

Hillcrest Minnie 16 owned and exhibited by James & Kasey Johnston won the senior udder and was named Honourable Mention in the champion cow lineup.

James and Kasey also took out Champion Intermediate Heifer with Hillcrest Beauty 29 while Cherie Davis’ Happy Valley Pet 29 was named Reserve Champion Intermediate.

Robert and Ricky Davis won Honourable Mention Juvenile with Prospect Starlight 70.

Judge, Steve Ledger said the champion cow had a terrific frame, great depth of body and openness of rib and she used her extra length to place over an evenly matched reserve cow.

The English’s Juvenile Champion was named Supreme Juvenile Heifer.
