The Planets Align for Glenbrook Stud at Adelaide Show

Judging at this year’s Adelaide Show was Bega (NSW) breeder, Paul Ringland.

Despite a considerably reduced Illawarra entry at the 2012 Adelaide Show, the Interbreed Competition proved a triumph for the Illawarra breed, with one of our more successful interbreed results for a long period.   The Holstein breed which conducted a Feature Show with this year’s Adelaide Show won the Breeders Group of Three; and the breed group of 5 cows, ahead of the Illawarra breed in 2nd place on both occasions.

However,  the Illawarra breed came to number one position in the Intermediate Championship and the Senior Cow class.  Both of these Championships were won by the Glenbrook Stud of Ian and Julie Mueller, Murray Bridge.  The Intermediate Champion was Glenbrook Envy 3, who won her 3 years in milk class before winning the Illawarra Intermediate Championship.  At the end of counting the judges placings, a three way tie resulted.  Glenbrook Envy won on a count back .

The Senior Cow voting was much more convincing with Glenbrook Venus 19 gaining the 1st vote of all judges.  Three years  ago Glenbrook Venus 19 gave promise of things to come when she won the All Breeds Intermediate Award.  Not only is she a stunning “looker” she recently completed her 2nd lactation creating National Illawarra production records, producing 13,023lt milk,  413kg Protein and 565kg Butterfat in 305 days.  On her 1st lactation she also created national production records.
