The White Park property was selected in 1880 by Thomas Henry Savage. The 160 acres originally selected is still part of the current property. The White Park stud is one of the oldest in Queensland still operating, with cattle registered in every Illawarra herd book to date.

The White Park stud was officially started in 1912 by William Thomas Savage with the purchase of a line of N.S.W bred heifers and a bull. David Savage, a name synonymous with the Illawarra bred then took over the stud and managed it with his wife Joyce until his passing in 2005. The herd is still owned by Mrs Joyce Savage and is run and managed along with the Tara herd of Michael and Glenda Henry.

White Park commenced showing at the Toowoomba Royal Show in 1907 with the bull Pro Rata 3rd. Since then the stud has been a regular exhibitor at the Toowoomba Royal. Records indicated that to date only two Toowoomba shows have been missed, that of 1937 and 1939. This made the 2007 Toowoomba Royal a show of great importance to the White Park stud as it was 100 years of exhibiting at this show. The stud has also been regular exhibitors at many other shows across the Darling Downs for a number of years and more recently at shows such as Gympie, Maleny, Brisbane and the Dairy Spectacular held at Bangalow in Northern N.S.W.
